Why I Do What I Do

My path into the insurance industry began unexpectedly.

At 22, I enrolled in an insurance licensing course on a whim. My aunts worked as claims adjusters, and without telling anyone, I decided to see where the opportunity might lead. After passing the exam, I realized I had spent an entire month studying for the wrong line of insurance.

What seemed like a mistake turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life.

Today, 24 years after first becoming licensed, I continue to love helping individuals, families, and businesses navigate one of life's most important decisions—protecting their health and financial well-being.

At 25, I accepted my first position in the insurance industry, beginning in customer service. Over the years, I gained experience in nearly every aspect of the business, including customer service, auto claims, bodily injury claims, health insurance, Medicare, employee benefits, and sales. Those experiences gave me a deep understanding of the insurance industry from every perspective—not just selling policies, but advocating for clients and helping people through some of life's most difficult situations.

Several years later, life presented me with a defining challenge.

As a single mother, I lost my job after choosing to prioritize time with my children. Despite applying everywhere, I couldn't find work. My insurance license was about to expire, and I had only two weeks to find the money to renew it while supporting my family.

Then I received a phone call offering me the opportunity to sell health insurance from home on a commission-only basis.

It was a leap of faith, but it also gave me the chance to continue raising my children while building a career with purpose.

I devoted myself to helping families understand their insurance options and find coverage they could truly afford. At a time when healthcare costs were placing enormous financial strain on many Americans, I discovered that people weren't simply looking for insurance—they were looking for someone they could trust.

That realization became the foundation of everything I do.

In August 2016, I opened the doors to Affordable Insurance Team with one simple mission: to provide honest guidance, exceptional service, and personalized insurance solutions that put clients first.

Since then, I've had the privilege of helping thousands of individuals, families, and businesses secure health insurance and employee benefits with confidence. Every client receives the same level of care, attention, and commitment that I would want for my own family.
